What Did You Play Mondays? January 23, 2017

Kanagawa - I fell immediately in love with this game! I will own it by the end of the week! Gorgeous, fun, strategic with lots of interesting choices, and one of my favourite mechanics borrowed from games like Coloretto and Zooloretto. This game gets a 9+ out of 10 from me!

Moongha Invaders: Mad Scientists and Atomic Monsters Attack the Earth! - Very fun, Martin Wallace game where monsters attack the Earth - and each other. This one is a bit like King of Tokyo on steroids.

Code 777 - A great game puzzley that hurts my brain. But still so much fun.

Codenames: Pictures - I love Codenames and love Codenames: Pictures. Haven't decided yet if one version is better or harder than the other yet. Need to play this version a few more times.

VisualEyes - This is a very light game promoting creative thinking and word association. Always fun even though I'm horrible at it. A unique twist on word games. Matching pairs of images that associate with a word.

Pandemic: Contagion - So simple but great! You are the virus trying to infect as many people as possible. Nice balance between protecting (or building up) your virus and attacking the population. Great card game! Gotta play this more often!

Lanterns: The Harvest Festival - Everyone I show this game to really enjoys it! Easy to learn tile-laying game with virtually no down-time.

Unexpected Treasures - A bit of a hidden gem by Friese. Set collection with a fun junk yard/thrifting theme.

Toc Toc Woodman - My niece loves this game. A simple dexterity game that adults can enjoy too. Chop down the tree, but don't swing your axe too hard - you just want the bark of the tree.

Marrakech - Beautiful, fun, quick area control game that proves that the Roll-and-Move mechanic can still be fun. Still much-loved in our house.
