Here is what we played this week:
Bananagrams is a real-time word game that is easy to learn and fast to play. If you like Scrabble then this game might be for you.
Pick-a-Pig is a speed, pattern-recognition filler game that is always fast and fun to play with adults and kids. A bit like Ghost Blitz or Jungle Speed with cute artwork.
Spiky Dastards is another speed, pattern-recognition game published by the makers of Banagrams. This one has you flipping 2 card at the same time and grabbing at the hard plastic cute creatures with spikes all over their bodies in the center of the table. Grab too quick and carelessly and you get jabbed with a spike. Cute and fun!
We played Treasure Island for the first time and I was really impressed. This is a one-versus-many game where pirates are racing to decypher the clues and find the treasure before Long John Silver gets out of prison and recovers the treasure himself. This game feels like Letters from Whitechapel meets Captain Sonar. During the game you will write and draw all over the main game board showing where you searched and where the clues are. It's all done with dry erase markers and resets for the next game. Very fun!
Azul is still a big hit in our home. Simple to learn, fast to play and great fun.
Several games of the game Mord im Arosa. This is basically a memory game that uses sound in a very unique way. The group sits around quietly listening to cubes drop down a cardboard tower trying to figure out where they land. Use that knowledge to find your opponents cubes or your own. Always fun to play.
