Our game plays for this past week:
I We introduced a few people to Welcome To... and, as it always does the game went over very, very well. This is one of the better Roll-And-Write (in this case it's a Flip-And-Fill cuz it uses cards instead of dice) offering a wide range of ways to get points and strategic options. I also tried it as a solo game (something I don't do often) and while I was a little confused about some the rules, I really enjoyed it. I will be playing this one solo again to get the feel of how it works.
Broom Service is still one of my all-time favourite games. I love trying to predict what opponents will be doing during their turn and what order these things will come out during the game. Admitedly, I'm not very good at that but it's such a fun-filled, tension-filled part of this game and it makes for lots of trash-talk and excitement. You feel so smart and when it works out just right and frustrated when your plans fall apart. Still a fantastic game.
We got to show a big bunch of people the game, Cartooner: The Fast & Furious Game of Drawing Comics. All of whom, came up to me afterwards to tell me how they were experiencing trepidation and outright fear while I was explaining how the game worked and what we would be doing during the game. They also said, how much they enjoyed the game and how much fun it was. It's a drawing and story-telling game where we are all creating a comic featuring themes from cards that we're dealt at the start of the game and trying to incorporate story-lines from theme cards that come up during the game. Being a good artist (or even an okay one) is not required - it's more about story-telling and adapting your story to fit the themes that come up during the game and trying to it all within the time limit established at the beginning of the game (each round is between 5 and 8 minutes to write and draw 2 to 8 pannels). This game has a lot of people nervous at first but offers a lot of laughter and silliness throughout the game as players share their comics with the group. A truly unique game and fun experience. Great for families, kids, hard-core gamers, comic book fans, artists, creatives and many, many more.
Chakra is about aligning your Chakras with the gemstones in the game using the limited movement options you have in the most efficient way. The first person to alighn 5 or more wins the game. Beautiful, relaxing and a fun puzzle.
Dream Home is an adorable family game about drafting and collecting cards onto your board to create your "dream home". Each card is a different room of the house and you want to collect the cards that work together the best and score the best points. Very light, very quick and very fun.
